‘’Improving Pastoral Live & Protecting the Environment’’

Gurmad Charitable Organization (GCO) was founded as a Non-Governmental Organization in July 24th, 2020, by a group of youth in  Somalis and looking for community development and Community solution program. GCOworks in collaboration with the government, UN, international agencies, and local organizations. GCO believes that the communities can create sustainable solutions for the problem that they encounter.

GCO is registered under Agency For Civil Society Organizations (ACSO), Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (F.D.R.E),with the registration number4982.

GCO has a structure composed of Board of Directors and Management Team lead by Executive Director who is charged with the day- to- day running activities.

Vision

A country where the youth, women, children, pastoralists, and people with disabilities respond to the causes and effects of vulnerable and poverty.

Mission

To promote sustainable development through community-based socio-economic empowerment targeting vulnerable youth, women, children, pastoralists, and people with disabilities while responding to environmental and climate change challenges in Somali region in particular and Ethiopia in general.

Geographical Area  

GCO operates effectively in all districts of Sitti zone, Somali Region and its head office is in Addis Ababa, it has sub-office in Jigjiga and Dire dawa/ Sitti Zone and carries out overall Somali regions during the emergency and drought-prone areas mainly and the development aid which will be subject fundraising and fund mobilization.

Transparency and accountability

GCO believes in upholding transparency and accountability to all stakeholders (Donors, Beneficiaries, communities and Government).

GCO believes that all human beings have the right to basic needs. Therefore in its execution of its tasks it will ensure impartiality, fairness and equitable (justified) need-based resource allocation.

GCO believes in the empowerment of the community to ensure sustainability of the initiatives being promoted.

Participation is very important to share ideas and ways during the planning, implementation and M&E. It means all stakeholder participate the project activity, and mainly participation of beneficiaries.
